WORCESTERSHIRE HILLS ALIVE TO THE SOUND OF MOTORING MUSIC

Britain's reigning hill climb champion Trevor Willis will be in action this weekend with the latest OMS 28 racing car when Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb hosts its first speed event of the year entitled 'Speed into Spring' on May 4th and 5th.

Organisers, Midland Automobile Club, is hosting rounds of the Midland Hill Climb Championship, attracting top drivers and their cars from across the country, ranging from road-legal saloon and sports cars to the latest high-tech single seater racing cars fitted with F1 style engines.

Mike Turpin of Hereford, the 2012 Midland Champion, will be defending his title in his supercharged Vauxhall VX220 and former Midland champion and current national top-ten runner Will Hall from Halesowen, will be in action in his unlimited capacity Force racing car which has undergone many modifications over the winter months and should go well.

With a full entry listed, registered drivers will also be competing in the BMTR 'Top Ten Challenge', which features points for the top ten places scored in a run-off by the fastest 12 cars at the end of both the morning and afternoon sessions on the Sunday.

Shelsley Walsh is a 1,000yard long course, only around 12 feet wide, and is a steep, fast and very demanding course for drivers, with excellent viewing facilities for spectators.

Situated in the picturesque Teme Valley, near Worcester, invited clubs also include the Westfield Speed Series, HSA Speed Championship and the Paul Matty Sports Cars Lotus Championship, who are all competing over the weekend.

To add even more variety to the occasion, the Morris Register will have a large presence to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Morris, with dedicated display areas and a parade of iconic vehicles driving up the hill on Sunday.

The action starts at 9.15am each day with individual mixed practice runs on Saturday and timed competition runs, with full commentary, in programme order on Sunday.
