HOME HIGHS & LOWS FOR RELENTLESS SUZUKI MX

A weekend at home for the Relentless Suzuki by TAS MX Team proved to be anything but a relaxing Easter break, as the team competed in round two of the Irish National Championship and the opening round of the Ulster series too.

After missing the first round of the Irish Championship due to a clash of dates, the TAS team went into round two, held at Donemanna, west of Ulster, fired up and ready for success, starting in the best way possible with Mel Pocock qualifying on pole position on his RM-Z250 in the combined MX1 and MX2 session.

But come the opening race of the day, it would be team-mate Crockard that would take the honours with a convincing win, before following it up with two further race victories to end the weekend with the overall win.

Sadly for teammate Pocock, his pole position would be his only taste of success, after a crash in the opening race while chasing Crockard down forced the MX2 rider to sit out the rest of the weekend's racing, due to heavy bruising.

Moving down the road on Bank Holiday Monday for the first round of the Ulster MX series, and with Pocock electing to sit out the round to aid recovery from his earlier crash, Crockard started his day off perfectly, taking the win in race one. Looking to end his weekend with a clean sweep of wins in the final race, Crockard began strongly, moving up to third and closing down the leaders in the early stages, before a rock to his goggles forced injury and eventual retirement.

Gordon Crockard:
"Overall a really great weekend of racing. It was a shame to end it like we did, but four wins from five races certainly isn't bad, and when you consider how tough the competition is out here it's something to be proud of. After the tough few weeks where I've struggled to recover from the Canada Heights crash, it's nice to be back and feeling good ready for the next round of the British series this weekend."

The team now prepare for round four of the Maxxis British Championship at Milton Park in Northamptonshire this weekend.
